UK pharmacies are launching travel health clinics because demand for pre-travel vaccination and antimalarial services has surged since the post-COVID recovery in international travel, while many GP practices have stopped offering travel vaccinations altogether. Pharmacist independent prescribers can administer vaccines and manage antimalarials under their own authority, making community pharmacy a natural and accessible setting for this service. Each travel consultation typically generates between thirty and eighty pounds, with multi-dose vaccination courses such as Hepatitis B and Rabies bringing patients back for repeat visits that increase lifetime value. Established clinical pathways from organisations like the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and NaTHNaC give practitioners clear protocols to follow. Year-round demand from business travellers, gap year students, and Hajj and Umrah pilgrims means revenue is not limited to the summer holiday season. RxSure provides pre-built vaccination templates, online booking, destination risk assessments, and certificate generation so pharmacies can launch a travel clinic within a single day.
Travel vaccinations typically generate between 40 and 80 pounds per visit. Multi-dose courses like Hepatitis B and Rabies bring patients back for repeat appointments, increasing lifetime value.

A pharmacy travel health consultation on RxSure follows a five-step workflow from patient booking through to vaccination certificate generation and GP notification. The patient books online through the pharmacy's branded booking page, entering their destination, travel dates, and planned activities. Before the appointment, a pre-screening travel risk assessment captures medical history, allergies, previous vaccinations, and any immunosuppressive conditions. During the face-to-face consultation, the pharmacist independent prescriber reviews the destination risk profile and administers the appropriate vaccines, which may include Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Meningitis ACWY, Rabies, or Yellow Fever for licensed centres. If the destination requires antimalarial prophylaxis, a private clinical record is issued during the same visit. RxSure automatically generates vaccination certificates and GP notification letters after each administration. For multi-dose courses such as Hepatitis B or Rabies, the platform schedules follow-up appointments and sends patient reminders so no dose is missed throughout the course.
